For the Spring Festival of 2022, the “Joy Factor” art installation will be opened at TaiKoo Hui in Shanghai, specially designed by YUHAN Design Studio, which breaks through the traditional concept of Chinese New Year atmosphere and innovatively injects technological and artistic elements to create a futuristic and trendy New Year.
Festivals, like virtually all human activities, are ritualistic, spontaneous expressions that are gradually formed and subtly refined to permeate our social life. Why not start this year's New Year ritual with this futuristic “Joy Factor” installation?
This large-scale “Joy Factor” installation combines futuristic technology with traditional festivals, and approaches them from the perspective of both spiritual and material needs. The material world can be divided into subprimitives and quantities, while emotions in the spiritual world can be broken down into factors. The “Happiness Factor” is a prototype that seeks out the causes of people's happiness and reproduces, creates, and spreads happiness.
When people stand on the platform around the reactor, the platform collects the Joy Factor from the people, transcribes the information into the reactor for casting and fusion, and creates a lantern symbolizing the New Year. The information is then transferred to the reactor and cast and fused to form a “lantern” symbolizing the New Year, which floats out slowly from the top.
The lanterns are no longer simple decorations, but rather containers that carry people's blessings and happiness for the New Year, floating up into the air, spreading happiness into the space, and sending good wishes for the New Year to each and every one of the guests.
In terms of color treatment, two color systems were used to match, cold silver and dark grey were chosen for the main body of the installation, visually upgrading the futuristic and mechanical sense, while the red lanterns and the hidden fire in the rest area below are warm colors symbolizing joy, both of which are adjusted and matched with each other in order to achieve the optimal visual aesthetics.、
In the modeling design, the most conventional square and circle are chosen, and other exhibition methods are different, the design adopts the similar treatment of sacrificial places and totem buildings, i.e.: the center is the huge building and the main body, and the other parts of the building unfold around the main totem, firstly, it will get a stronger sense of spatial permeability and rituals, and secondly, in the line of motion, it can also gather the crowds better, and better reflect the bustling and joyful atmosphere. better embodied.
In addition to the cold and warm colors, the square and round shapes, the materials are also contrasted. Unlike the hard surfaces of the installation walls and floors, the four soft and warm lounge areas, whether it is lazy sofas, plush carpets, or the slow fire in the lounge area, will give people a sense of relaxation and rest, sitting quietly here, wrapped in soft materials, looking at the flickering lights in front of them, will have a sense of security.
